American environmentalist Bill McKibben is the founder of 350.org, an international climate campaign dedicated to unite the world around solutions to the climate crisis. He frequently writes about global warming, alternative energy, and the risks associated with human genetic engineering as contributer to various magazines including The New York Times, The Atlantic Monthly, and Harper’s. He is also the author of over a dozen books, including The End of Nature and The Age of Missing Information. Beginning in 2006, he spearheaded the largest demonstration against global warming in American history, culminating in Step It Up 2007, the largest day of protest about climate change across all 50 states. McKibben has been awarded the prestigious Guggenheim and Lyndhurst Fellowships, and he won the Lannan Prize for nonfiction writing in 2000.
